Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards Receives Bronze Certification from GreenStep Sustainable Tourism
Harrow, Ont. – Through an intensive and thorough process, Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards Winery has been awarded Bronze Certification from GreenStep Sustainable Tourism, North America's largest certification program for the tourism and hospitality industry.
“The staff and owners at Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards are thrilled to have been given this certification. As a team, we are always looking beyond today for our business and stakeholders A big thank you to all our wonderful customers!” said Tom O’Brien, co-owner of Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards.
To receive a Bronze certification, Cooper’s Hawk had to meet specific standards after a one-on-one assessment was completed by a GreenStep Assessor. The process compared the wineries practices against a set of criteria in 16 different categories that are Global Sustainable Tourism Council recognized and aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
“We applaud the efforts of Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards to embark on a sustainability journey by becoming a certified Sustainable Tourism Member of GreenStep Canada and congratulate them achieving the status of Bronze certification” said Gordon Orr, CEO of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island. “Their commitment to measure and improve their sustainability performance as a tourism business demonstrates to our community and their customers that they are not only producing great wine and tourism experiences, but also protecting our planet.”
In order to uphold the integrity and credibility of the program, businesses are required to undergo a re-assessment every two years. Cooper’s Hawk plans to unveil new and innovative ways to further their GreenStep Sustainable Tourism certification in the future.
